Who we are

Editor V is made and operated by Vladislav Briker, a licensed sole trader in Israel registered as Rebel Media. For anything on this page, write to support@editor-v.com or call +972 50-585-7733.

What we collect

Your account

• Email address. Needed to create your account, sign you in, and send you receipts and important service notices.
• How you signed in — with Google, or with a one-time code sent to your email. If you use Google we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google; we do not receive your Google password and we cannot access anything else in your Google account.
• Subscription status — whether your account is on the free or paid plan, when the current period ends, and how many source changes you have applied this month against your free allowance.

The waitlist and the contact form

These are the only things this website collects today, and they are separate from any account.

• The waitlist — your email address, your first name (if provided), what your project is built on, which tools you use, how you heard about us, and whether you ticked the box asking for product updates. That box is never pre-ticked. Leave it unticked and we will only write to you when the app opens, which is what joining the list asked for.
• The contact form — your name, your email address, what you are writing about, and your message. It reaches the same place as support@editor-v.com.
• Where you came from — the campaign tag on the link you arrived through and the site that referred you, stored with your submission so we know which post reached you.
• Your IP address and region, recorded alongside the submission. It is what stops one person flooding the form and helps determine coarse country-level demand, and it is deleted with the rest of the record.

How the app is used

• Time spent actively using the app. Counted only while the window is focused and you have interacted recently, so an app left open overnight is not counted as use.
• Country. Derived from your network address when your app contacts us, then reduced to a country code. The app does not store your IP address. The website does, when you submit a form, and that is described above.
• App and system version — which build of Editor V you are running and which version of macOS, so we know what to support and what to fix.

Crashes and errors

If Editor V crashes or hits an internal error, we receive a technical report describing what failed. These reports are automatically filtered to remove file paths and anything that could identify your project. If you send a bug report yourself, we show you exactly what it contains and ask you to confirm before anything is sent — nothing is attached without you seeing it first.

What we never collect

This is not a promise about our intentions. It is how the app is built.

• The contents of your source files
• Your file paths, folder names or project names
• Screenshots of your work, unless you attach one to a bug report yourself
• Your keystrokes, or what you type into the editor
• Anything from projects you open but never edit

Payment information

We never see your card. Subscriptions are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who act as the merchant of record — they are the seller on your invoice, and they collect and process your payment details directly. We receive only the fact that a subscription started, renewed, or ended, and the email address attached to it. Their privacy policy is at https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy.

Why we are allowed to hold this

• To provide the service you asked for — your account, your subscription and your access to the app. Without an email address there is no account to sign in to.
• Because we have a legitimate interest in knowing that the app works: crash reports, version numbers, and a coarse sense of where and how much it is used.
• Because you agreed to it — everything in the tracking section below runs on your consent, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it was.
• Because you asked us to — your place on the waitlist, and promotional email only where you ticked the box for it.
• Because the law requires it — tax and accounting records relating to your purchase.

Who else touches your data

We use a small number of service providers. Most of them process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for anything else. We do not sell your data. Two of them are advertising platforms, and that is a different arrangement worth stating plainly: with your permission they are told that a visit or a signup happened, so we can tell which advert paid for itself and show adverts to people who have been here. Refuse the marketing category and they are told nothing.

• Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in.
• Paddle — sells the subscription and processes payment.
• Sentry — receives crash and error reports.
• Our email provider — delivers sign-in codes, receipts and service notices.
• PostHog — measures how this website is used, and stores it in the European Union (PostHog EU Cloud in Frankfurt, Germany). This website only; it is not in the app and it never sees your code.
• Hotjar — records how visitors move through this website and builds heatmaps of where people click and how far they read. Stored in Ireland.
• Cookiebot — shows the consent banner and keeps the record of what you chose.
• YouTube— only if you press play on the demo video. The player is built as a static facade and is not loaded until you click it, so until then nothing is sent. Pressing play loads it from YouTube’s enhanced privacy domain (youtube-nocookie.com), which is Google LLC, in the United States.
• Meta and Google — only with your permission, and only about this website. We use browser tags (Meta Pixel, Google Ads) and the server-side Meta Conversions API (CAPI). When you submit a waitlist form with marketing tracking enabled, event records and irreversible, one-way SHA-256 cryptographic hashes of your first name, email address, geographic area (city, region, country, postal code), and technical connection parameters (IP address, user agent, click IDs) are transmitted to measure advertising conversion quality without exposing plaintext identifiers. Both providers are based in the United States, so allowing the marketing category means that information leaves Europe under Standard Contractual Clauses. Refuse it and nothing is sent to either.

How long we keep it

• Account data — for as long as your account exists.
• Usage records — 24 months, then deleted.
• Crash reports — 90 days.
• Waitlist and contact form submissions — until you ask us to delete them, and in any case no longer than 24 months after the last thing you sent us.
• Website analytics and session recordings — 12 months, then deleted.
• Records of your purchase — as long as tax law requires us to keep them, which is longer than the rest and outside our control.

Your rights

Whoever and wherever you are, you can ask us to do any of the following, and we will do it. Write to support@editor-v.com.

• Tell you what we hold about you
• Send you a copy of it in a portable format
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete your account and everything attached to it, except records we are legally required to keep
• Stop sending you anything that is not strictly necessary
• Withdraw a consent you gave us, without having to explain why

If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies and tracking on this website

Everything above is about the app. This section is about the website you are reading — a different thing, with different answers. The desktop app uses no cookies at all; it keeps your sign-in securely on your own machine, in the macOS Keychain.

Nothing below runs until you allow it. You were asked when you first arrived, and whatever you chose is what this site is doing now. Change it whenever you like from Cookie settings in the footer, or the icon in the corner of the page. Refusing costs you nothing — every part of this site works the same either way.

• Necessary. What the site needs to function: submitting a form, and remembering the choice you made about this. It does not ask permission, because without it there is no working site to give permission to.
• Analytics — PostHog and Hotjar. Which pages you visit, how far down them you scroll, which links and buttons you click, where on the page people click and how far they read, and a replay of your visit to this website. The replay includes what you type into the forms here, so if you enter your email address on the waitlist page it appears in the recording — and if you join the waitlist or write to us, that address is attached to your record. This is not anonymous, and we would rather say so than let the word imply otherwise. Both store data strictly in the European Union (PostHog in Frankfurt, Germany; Hotjar in Ireland).
• Marketing — Meta and Google. Whether an advert brought you here and whether you went on to join the waitlist, measured through browser tracking (Meta Pixel, Google Ads) and secure server-to-server conversion reporting (Meta Conversions API). When you submit a form with marketing tracking active, pseudonymised SHA-256 hashes of your contact details and location are matched to verify campaign attribution and reduce duplicate advertising. Turn this off and you will still see adverts; they simply will not be based on your having been here.
• Campaign tags. If you arrived from a link we posted somewhere, the tag on that link is held for the length of your visit so we can tell which post brought you here. It records where the link was, not who you are, it never leaves this site, and it is gone when you close the tab.

This list is the whole list. If we add anything — an advertising pixel, another analytics tool — it appears here before it starts running.

Children

Editor V is a professional development tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything that matters, we will email account holders before it takes effect rather than quietly updating the date at the top.
